Project Details
This project involved the creation of three separate buildings for a property in Farnham. The development combined traditional brickwork and timber frame construction with contemporary glazing to deliver a stylish, modern finish.
The architectural vision required a mixture of materials, including render, stonework, seamed metal roofing & cladding, and timber cladding. This complexity demanded detailed interface design to ensure seamless integration between the different construction elements and the glazing package.
Our Solution
At Total Aluminium Solutions, we supplied a wide range of aluminium systems from Smart and Cortizo to meet the diverse requirements of the project. The specification included windows, single and double doors, bi-folding doors, sliding doors, a flat roof light, and a full balustrade system, complemented by bespoke pressings and flashings.
A key design challenge was ensuring effective weathering and vapour control while accommodating multiple construction methods and materials. We worked closely with the client to design solutions that maintained both performance and aesthetics.
The homeowner also placed strong emphasis on flush thresholds for patio doors, to create a smooth inside-to-outside transition. To achieve this, we developed creative detailing that channelled water through the door system directly into slot drains installed beneath the patio. This ensured efficient drainage without compromising the flush finish.
Results
The finished buildings combine traditional and modern design elements with precision-engineered glazing, creating light-filled spaces with excellent performance. From slimline sliding doors to flush-threshold bi-folds, every product was chosen to balance aesthetics, functionality, and durability.
