Details
Total have kick started 2025 with the delivery and installation of a new Haffner 220 all in one cutting and machining centre.
This installation has been over a year in the making, with the order placed over 12 months ago, having to make space for a machine that requires a area of 18m long and 4m deep meant some serious planning was required.
We quickly determined that more factory space was required, there was only one option, we'd have to extend the factory to accommodate it. 7 months down the line planning permission was granted and we quickly went to work adding 2000 sqf to the side of our factory. This extra space not only provides room for the Haffner 220 but also allowed us to create a new dispatch area, stores department and employee canteen.
The combination of the extension and machining centre has been Total Aluminium’s biggest investment to date. Over the years we have continued to reinvest back into the company constantly striving to improve our manufacturing process, sales tools and working environment for all employees.
Delivered on time in the new year after crossing through Europe over Christmas, Haffner’s engineers started a 2 week process of installing, testing and training our operatives to run the machine.
As we've transitioned more products and processes over to the new machine, production times have remained unaffected as all existing machinery continues to work along side the new system creating a seamless transition.
The machining centre allows for increased capacity without interrupting the production process, it increases accuracy and reduces down time of processes and manual handling.
This investment in technology is not the starting or end point for Total. Further investment and changes to our production and systems are in the pipe line to facilitate our main goal, to supply aluminium windows, doors and rooflights to the highest quality with lead times that help you win business.
